Eric Kampe
Farmer Eric Kampe started out as an engineer with a degree in computer engineering from the University of Michigan. After working for several years in automotive and electrical engineering, in 2007, Eric began volunteering at Abbondanza Organic Seeds & Produce, a farm in Boulder, Colorado, where he learned about direct-to-consumer farm operations and developed an interest in seed cultivation. Returning home to Michigan, in 2012 Eric launched the Ann Arbor Seed Company, marketing heirloom seeds and selling produce to local households and businesses.
In 2020, Eric and four other farmers came together to form the Green Things Farm Collective in Washtenaw County, Michigan. Working together within the structure of their newly established LLC has enabled Eric and his co-owners to reduce administrative and marketing costs, share knowledge and capital, and scale up their efforts for a stronger local presence in organic/regenerative food production.
Eric continues to grow both food and seeds while building community among farmers and local food devotees in Southeast Michigan.
